Package: man-db
Version: 2.5.0-1
Severity: normal

Hi

Some time ago I added the -Tascii8 option to invokation of man in dwww
as a workaround for bug #340673. Today I noticed, it no longer works
(i.e. the man pages showed by dwww are empty).

After diagnosing the problem, I discovered that `man -Tascii8' tries to
read the man page from standard input, e.g.:

$ man -Tascii8 -Pcat man < /etc/manpath.config 2>/dev/null  | head -n 3
# manpath.config # # This file is used by the man-db package to
configure the man and cat paths. # It is also used to provide a
manpath for those without one by examining # their PATH environ-

Without the option, man works as expected:
$ man  -Pcat man < /etc/manpath.config 2>/dev/null  | head -n 3
MAN(1)                        Manual pager utils                          MAN(1)

Best Regards,
robert
