as of now (traceroute 2.0.9), the wrapper in traceroute for tcptraceroute is only for mapping different options; compared to the original tcptraceroute, it lacks some features, and it requires root permissions. however, the new traceroute implementation is still under development and not that mature yet; i'd recommend to keep tcptraceroute, future tells if the new traceroute will be a complete replacement. so, it would be nice if you could add the respecting alternatives.
