This will maintain backward compatibility, it is however impossible to
pass -M to the real ssh because in the debian version -M takes precedence over
environment.
I do not like the idea of env taking precedence over command line, as this seems
to be the case for -M being used.
Another option would be to check if -M got arguments, if it is then it is for
autossh, pass it to ssh otherwise.
