there are several python-related issues in hamlib. Currently, it lists "2.4" in debian/pyversions. If 2.4 is really the only supported version (which is unlikely), please consider moving to a specific python2.4-libhamlib2 package. Otherwise, if 2.4 is only the minimum version, please list "2.4-" in this file. Furthermore, _Hamlib.so links to libpython, which brings an undesired dependency on python2.4; please don't do this. Finally, it would be nice to switch to a multi-build system so that your package is already built for python 2.5.
