I discovered that when Iceweasel does not have read access to a font it crashes and dissapears. When I installed new fonts, I did so as root, but did not chmod the font files so they were only readable by root. Thus Iceweasel crashed everytime it tried to access any webpage using this common web-font. Solution was to chmod all the font files to add the read access to my user and all local users. Iceweasel should have written an error to the syslog, or substituted this font with another one installed on the system instead of just crashing. I only discovered the problem by using `strace`.
