Hi, I think that enabling Lua would be really useful for people writing Wireshark dissectors that cannot be included in the official Wireshark source tree because of legal or other reasons.
Writing those dissectors in Lua instead of C makes maintenance of the dissector code much easier since they don't have to follow the low level changes in Wireshark.
