Package: binutils Version: 2.18-1 Severity: wishlist GCC has for a while now provided binaries both with an unprefixed command name and with DEB_BUILD_GNU_TYPE - so for example powerpc-linux-gnu-gcc. It would be nice if binutils could do the same.
The prefixed variant makes life a bit easier when supporting cross compilation of packages since it allows one to just tell the build system to use the DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE version of the relevant utility without worrying if this is a cross build or not. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-2-powerpc Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages binutils depends on: ii libc6 2.6.1-5 GNU C Library: Shared libraries binutils recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
