Package: linux-image-2.6.21-2-686 Version: 2.6.21-6 Severity: normal
I have an old HP SureStore CD-Writer Plus 7200e CD parallel interface CD burner that some years back used to work just fine with Debian. I just dusted it off, and the drivers fail badly. When I manually load the "pcd" driver, I hear the drive spinning, then an "events" process quickly grabs 99+% of CPU and the whole system becomes so sluggish that I barely retain sufficient control to type halt in a terminal. The halt process was so slow that I finally had to power down. Unplugging the external drive has no effect, suggesting that something in the driver is spinning. -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.21-2-686 (Debian 2.6.21-6) ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070629 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.2-13)) #1 SMP Wed Jul 11 03:53:02 UTC 2007 ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: pccard: CardBus card inserted into slot 0 pccard: PCMCIA card inserted into slot 1 ohci_hcd: 2006 August 04 USB 1.1 'Open' Host Controller (OHCI) Driver PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:00.0 (0000 -> 0002) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:00.0[A] -> Link [LNKA] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:02:00.0 to 64 ohci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: OHCI Host Controller ohci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 2 ohci_hcd 0000:02:00.0: irq 11, io mem 0x24000000 usb usb2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice hub 2-0:1.0: USB hub found hub 2-0:1.0: 3 ports detected input: PS/2 Generic Mouse as /class/input/input2 PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:00.1 (0000 -> 0002) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:00.1[B] -> Link [LNKA] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:02:00.1 to 64 ohci_hcd 0000:02:00.1: OHCI Host Controller ohci_hcd 0000:02:00.1: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 3 ohci_hcd 0000:02:00.1: irq 11, io mem 0x24001000 usb usb3: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice hub 3-0:1.0: USB hub found hub 3-0:1.0: 2 ports detected PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:00.2 (0000 -> 0002) ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:00.2[C] -> Link [LNKA] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 ehci_hcd 0000:02:00.2: EHCI Host Controller ehci_hcd 0000:02:00.2: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 4 ehci_hcd 0000:02:00.2: irq 11, io mem 0x24002000 ehci_hcd 0000:02:00.2: USB 2.0 started, EHCI 1.00, driver 10 Dec 2004 usb usb4: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice hub 4-0:1.0: USB hub found hub 4-0:1.0: 5 ports detected ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:05.0[A] -> Link [LNKA] -> GSI 11 (level, low) -> IRQ 11 cs: IO port probe 0x100-0x3af: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x3e0-0x4ff: excluding 0x4d0-0x4d7 cs: IO port probe 0x820-0x8ff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0xc00-0xcf7: clean. cs: IO port probe 0xa00-0xaff: clean. cs: memory probe 0xa0000000-0xa0ffffff: clean. pcmcia: registering new device pcmcia1.0 cs: IO port probe 0x100-0x3af: clean. cs: IO port probe 0x3e0-0x4ff: excluding 0x4d0-0x4d7 cs: IO port probe 0x820-0x8ff: clean. cs: IO port probe 0xc00-0xcf7: clean. cs: IO port probe 0xa00-0xaff: clean. cs46xx: failure waiting for FIFO command to complete gameport: CS46xx Gameport is pci0000:00:05.0/gameport0, speed 1807kHz ASIC rev 1,<6>eth1: Megahertz 574B at io 0x300, irq 3, hw_addr 00:50:DA:CF:A5:7C. 64K FIFO split 1:1 Rx:Tx, autoselect MII interface. udev: renamed network interface eth1 to eth6 Adding 279680k swap on /dev/hda6.
