Hi, I do exactly have the same problem here. If I start openafs-client, I cannot unmount /afs anymore. It results in an hanging '/etc/init.d/openafs-client stop' process where the umount-command runs forever. If I try to shutdown the system, the 'halt' or 'shutdown' process also runs forever. Restart is only possible by pressing onto the reset button...
Now to my situation: I'm currenty installing OpenAFS on that system. The server part seems to run. I try to get AFS running with external Kerberos-Support, which seems it isn't correctly integrated into each other at the moment. But that should not be a problem to be unable to unmount /afs, should it? What I now try is, that I run the OpenAFS-Client on the server-machine itself. Starting '/etc/init.d/openafs-client start' runs perfectly. Accessing /afs brings up 'permission denied', but that is another problem and shouldn't hurt here - correct my if I'm wrong. Trying to stop the client results in a hang of 'umount'. It never worked before as this is an new installation which is currently being installed. I took the openafs-modules-source packet and made a modules deb for my specific kernel out of it. Just as a thought, could it be a Kernel 2.6.11 compatibility problem as Sven uses an 2.6.11, too?
