Maybe you should enable this module too: backlight that is in: Device Drivers ---> Graphics support ---> Backlight & LCD device support ---> Lowlevel Backlight controls The problem is that the brightness file has changed; in my kernel (2.6.21) is: /sys/class/backlight/sony/brightness Hope it helps!
