I was actually asking if there is a real situation in which such a thing would
occur. As in "are there terminals that don't have $TERM set?"

I don't want to stall the problem, I am curious if this is a real problem since
there are more serious issues than this one that need our attention (see lack of
test frame, lack of proper support for layout 2, no support for something linke
"mkdir -p" that works with svn mkdir).
