Yes, if you could do this, I'd appreciate it. I realized over the weekend that I cannot try to reproduce this problem since I currently only have one USB disk enclosure. (I lent one to a friend.) I'll prepare a 2.6.18 kernel with the patch you mentioned in the next few days.
