I get this too, I'm using mpd to stream to icecast and ogg123 to play the
stream. I know it's not mpd or icecast since I'm playing the same stream on
two computers and they start corruption at different times. When it does
start the input buffer is very low and it stays low. Well, it would wouldn't
it since icescast is broadcasting in semi-real time and ogg123 is playing at
the same rate. If some data is lost or the clocks drift between the server
and client the buffer might empty and stay empty. What ogg123 should do is to
keep the buffer fairly full by playing a bit of silence every now an then
(like whenever the volume is very low and the buffer is low).

Cheers,
Tim.
