Hi, I decided to inspect this problem in the code, but to my surprise, everything works well if I compile the source myself. I didn't use any special options. I can even build the packages from the exact same package source and they will be OK. I did this:
# apt-get build-dep matchbox-desktop $ apt-get source matchbox-desktop $ cd matchbox-desktop-0.9.1 $ debuild # dpkg -i matchbox-desktop_0.9.1-1_i386.deb And the captions are not missing any more on the desktop. The same with matchbox-panel fixes the menus. So the error is not in the library but in the applications, and is not in the source but in the binaries.
