Package: autossh Version: 1.3-4 Severity: wishlist autossh currently exits without an error if the tunnel cannot be immediately opened. This is a bit confusing, since there's no obvious difference between that and an invocation where it succeeds and backgrounds itself (if using -f). I suggest that autossh should report the error to the console in this case.
