I ask because some packages I get are from places that only support ftp. If apt with proxy only changes fetches for http:, it will pass ftp: directly on to the site and apt-cacher will never be involved (assuming I don't mess with the ftp directive to point locally). Everything should work. But if apt with proxy redirect everything, or if I manually redirect ftp to my local host running apt-cacher, then I think I'm out of luck, since the current docs say apt-cacher does not support ftp. Since setting up a proxy in apt seems relatively convenient (compared to rewriting all the entries in all the sources.list's), this might be an argument for supporting ftp. It also might be an argument for having apt redirect only http (but I'll bet that's already the case). Ross -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
