I agree that the dependency has to be "relaxed" somewhat (there's a separate bug about the fact the dependency is on mpm-prefork), but it won't go as far as you suggest. Do you have a particular desire to run it with lighttpd? Right now I can't test it, due to suffering multiple machine failures last week.
