One or two days ago, openafs was working fine. Then, I did an
"apt-get dist-upgrade", which installed a new openafs-client. That
broke openafs. I had to modify /etc/apt/openafs-client (as per my
original message) to get it working again. My only
/etc/apt/sources.list line that gets non-official Debian sarge
packages is:

deb http://debian.csail.mit.edu/pub/csail-debian/ sarge csail

I only install packages via apt-get. I do dist-upgrade's regularly
(at least once a week).

I know Sarge is getting close to being released as stable; I didn't
think the module would be re-named this late in the cycle. Hence my
reason for thinking the problem was a typo in
/etc/init.d/openafs-client...
