I attempted to upgrade from woody to sarge and got the following message
Setting up postgresql (7.4.7-3) ... Installing new version of config file /etc/cron.d/postgresql ... Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/postgresql ...
Configuration file `/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/postgresql' (actually `/etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/../ignore.d.paranoid/postgresql')
==> File on system created by you or by a script.
==> File also in package provided by package maintainer.
What would you like to do about it ? Your options are:
Y or I : install the package maintainer's version
N or O : keep your currently-installed version
D : show the differences between the versions
Z : background this process to examine the situation
The default action is to keep your current version.

Starting PostgreSQL database server: postmaster(FAILED)
ERROR: ERROR: PostgreSQL postmaster did not start because of an unknown reason.
PostgreSQL's init script (/etc/init.d/postgresql) attempted
to start the postmaster, however, this failed because of an unknown
reason.
ne the
situation (please take a look at the log files). If you know the
reason why it failed and, then please file a bug report to Debian
(unless the reason is something obvious like a full disk).
Debian PostgreSQL Sorry; the automatic database upgrade failed.
When I look in /var/log/postgresql/postgres.log , I see: FATAL: unrecognized configuration parameter "debug_level"
I comment out debug_level = 0, then postmaster starts.
And if you could, please comment on why filename(Filename: pool/updates/main/p/postgresql/postgresql_7.2.1-2woody2_i386.deb) has a different version string(7.2.1.x) than the version string(Version: 7.4.7-3).
