Package: patchutils Version: 0.2.31-4 Severity: wishlist Thank you for making the patchutils. I'd like to ask that all programs (filterdiff ...) that not yet have accompanying GNU --long for the short options, would have one. An example:
filterdiff -z -v -i -p 1 "*doc*" ... => filterdiff --decompress --include="*doc*" --strip=1 When working with numrous scripts and programs I have come to appreciate the value of these long options which can be understood easily without consulting the manual page first. The typical scenario is that you write script, forget it for several months and come back, and worder what all these litle itty bitty (short) options did. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.22-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ISO-8859-1) (ignored: LC_ALL set to en_US) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages patchutils depends on: ii debianutils 2.23.1 Miscellaneous utilities specific t ii libc6 2.6.1-1+b1 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii patch 2.5.9-4 Apply a diff file to an original ii perl 5.8.8-7 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction patchutils recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
