I have not yet found a "sure fire" way of triggering this crash. This has strengthened my suspicion that it is threading (or timing) related. Details about my environment: * Older i386 SMP system (Pentium-III, 1.3 Ghz) * Newsbeuter is running inside screen (inside aterm). * I'm making it work a bit harder than the default settings: reload-time 20 max-items 1000 * The crash typically occurs early on in a run, when newsbeuter is still fetching some URLs. * The crash does not seem to occur without user input. It occurs when newsbeuter tries to act on keyboard input. One usage pattern which hopefully helps to reproduce the crash is to keep 'n' pressed for a while, either in the feeds list or within a particular feed.
