Hum, I'm not absolutely sure of this point :

I did configure alsa with alsaconf a few months ago. The "funny" point
is : why did my config dissappear ?

The second point is that still I get an error message like this at he
end of alsaconf-ing my sound cards :

------------------------------------
Running update-modules...
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-k7/updates/alsa/snd-pdaudiocf.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-k7/updates/alsa/snd-vx-cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-k7/updates/alsa/snd-vxp440.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.4.27-2-k7/updates/alsa/snd-vxpocket.o
Loading driver...
Setting default volumes...

===============================================================================

Now ALSA is ready to use.
For adjustment of volumes, use your favorite mixer.

 Have a lot of fun!
---------------------------------------

Look at this *now* :

cat /proc/asound/cards output is :

0 [Live ]: EMU10K1 - Sound Blaster Live!
Sound Blaster Live! (rev.6, serial:0x80271102) at 0xd800, irq 11

------------------------

I agree with you that my old fashioned OSS driver has nothing to do
loaded at the same time than my Alsa drivers (something I must have
forgottent to clean once), but it did not explain the unresolved
symbols, did it ?

I'm available for further inquiries if needed !

Regards,

Yoj'
