I tried updating to see if any updates had come out which fixed the problems. It seems to get a bit further in that it actually opens a window and starts downloading stuff. But then it crashes. It seems it has something to do with playback of something in the channelguide? I never actually use the channelguide so it's kind of annoying that it's preventing democracyplayer from working.
