I have added a "debian/pyversions" file that tells python-support only
to support python2.4 or greater, since there are several python2.4-isms
in the package now.

I don't have a machine handy that still has python2.3, so can you test
with this deb:
  http://people.debian.org/~jsw/python-debian/python-debian_0.1.6_all.deb
