The resolution is not elegant, but I don't see any other option: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.tex.texinfo.bugs/3533 I have used this approach for some time in libidn, and it has worked fine. I have fixed this in gnutls git. There will likely be another release before the real one, to test that everything works, but I don't expect the real release to be delayed.
