I've downgraded both libxine1 and libxine1-ffmpeg from 1.1.7-2 to 1.1.7-1 and I can now play mp3 streams. Downgrading libxine1-ffmpeg only didn't work, I had to downgrade both. Therefore, a bug seems to have crept in with version 1.1.7-2.
