The ‘Mailbox location’ dialog for selecting the path of local Maildir, MH, or mbox spools/directories does not allow a directory to be selected. Highlighting the directory and selecting ‘Open’ displays the contents of the directory (expected for most file dialogs). Selecting ‘Cancel’ or closing the dialog does not change the configuration path (expected). Selecting ‘Open’ should save the selected file/directory as the mailbox location and close the dialog. 1. With the main Evolution window open, select Preferences... from the Edi’ menu. 2. Select Mail Accounts 3. Select Add. An Evolution Account Assistant window opens. 4. Select Forward 5. Enter an email address in the Email Address textbox then select Forward. 6. Set Server Type to Maildir-format mail directories. The lower part of the window changes to display a Configuration section. 7. Click on the button next to Path. A file dialog opens, titled ‘Mailbox location’. 8. Select a directory from the list, and click Open. The contents of the directory are displayed. I worked around this by editing the account configuration through gconf-editor and setting the correct path. The mail directories are then read as expected.
