Hm. I'm trying to reproduce it now, and I can perhaps do it once out of ten. Sort of hard to track down... When rpc.mountd is hanging, is it perchance using a lot of CPU? Could you strace it while it hangs? (It looks a bit to me like it's doing lots of devmapper stuff, which has been problematic earlier.)
