I can't confirm. Do you have any non-alphanumeric characters in your password?
Could you please apt-get remove kcheckgmail and install this one:
http://deb.atomo64.puffinhost.com/debian/pool/testing/kcheckgmail_0.5.6_i386.deb
This one has --enable-debug which will display more information. After
installing that version of the package follow these instructions [1]
(the first step can be ignored because you are using a package with
--enable-debug). Just make sure you don't post any passwords, but also
make sure they are ok (you can post the results here, no need to open
a ticket at sf.net).
