We know that at least some problems with slapd crashing can be worked
around by making sure that you either don't use nss-ldap on the system
with slapd or you run slapd as root.  The problem is the library conflicts
between the libraries with which nss-ldap is compiled and the libraries
slapd uses, and is therefore just another consequence of the GnuTLS
issues.

Right.

Basically, we're in a holding pattern waiting for the OpenLDAP 2.4
release.  Unfortunately, it doesn't even have a beta yet.  I'm desperately
hoping that we can move to it before the next stable release.
