Package: binutils
Version: 2.17cvs20070718-1
Severity: important

On a current amd64 system, try:

  objcopy --only-keep-debug /lib/libpthread-2.6.so z.so.debug
  readelf -s z.so.debug | less

All the symbol names will be bogus and contain non-printable
characters. It looks vaguely like x86 assembly (lots of 0x90).

libc6-dbg is currently broken in unstable because of this bug; this
messes up valgrind and gdb. I believe it came in with the last upload.
