Hi Christopher, Forgive me if this sounds stupid... are you talking about a file called old_passwords.cnf? A change in the setting of old_passwords in my.cnf or the fact that the password for debian-sys-maint in debian.cnf changes on upgrade?
If it's the debian.cnf, this is expected behavior.
