Hi folks, I eventually found the culprit why nfs mounts at boot were not mounted since weeks / months. Fairly simple, as it seems the mount option "bg" to perform the actual mounting in the background does not work anymore or at least not as it worked earlier. Back in the old days (haha), the mounting processes tried for ever to mount the nfs exports, it worked even if I bootet the nfs client hours before the server, as the server became available, the mounting was performed. So thats why I thought it still does not work (mounting nfs at boot), in general I switch both machines on at the same time, but as the NFSd is a much slower machine with scsi hardware in it which needs extra time to initialize the hardware, almost everytime the client finishes booting several minutes before the server > "bg" does not work as I was used to it > nfs exports not mounted at bootup.
I found out as I rebootet the client once, twice, three times in a row (testing unrelated kernel / hardware stuff) while the server was all the time running... and all the time the nfs exports were mounted during those bootups. So... what should I make of this? Maybe the fix mentioned earlier does not take care of the "bg" mount-option? The "bg" feature was very cool, I don't want to do without this option. greetings Michael -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
