That's almost certainly not the cause of the problem. > >>>> Systraq is the default version installed via dpkg on an > >>>> AMD64 system. > >>>> > >>>> If you can tell me where I have gone wrong, and perhaps update your > >>>> documentation to make it less likely someone else will go wrong like > >>>> this too, that would be great. > >> Please give me to output of: > >> > >> ls -ld /var /var/lib /var/lib/systraq \ > >> /var/lib/systraq/filetraq /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc > >> /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc/aliases > >> /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc/aliases/orig* > > > > Chris: the output of > > > > mount > > > > would be helpful too. The output of ls -ld /var /var/lib /var/lib/systraq \ /var/lib/systraq/filetraq /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc/aliases /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc/aliases/orig* would still be useful, too. BTW, I've recently seen similar errors after a fresh install of systraq: the bug you've found is likely reproducable. I'll start working on a fix soonish. Bye, Joost
