That's almost certainly not the cause of the problem.

Thanks.  The output of

  ls -ld /var /var/lib /var/lib/systraq \
   /var/lib/systraq/filetraq /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc
   /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc/aliases
   /var/lib/systraq/filetraq/etc/aliases/orig*

would still be useful, too.

BTW, I've recently seen similar errors after a fresh install of systraq:
the bug you've found is likely reproducable.

I'll start working on a fix soonish.
