Maybe I haven't correctly understood the obase|ibase use, but this seems very strange to me: $ echo 'ibase=F ; E; F; 10; 11' | bc 14 15 15 16 $ echo 'obase=F ; 13; 14; 15; 16' | bc D E 10 11 Just discovered, no idea about where this behaviuor come from.
