The description in 1.3.1-2 is much easier to understand, but unfortunately isn't policy-compliant: lines starting with ' .' and continuing with more text are "for future expansion. Do not use them." (sec. 5.6.13). As a specific problem, those lines aren't displayed in aptitude at all.
