compiz-extra has been in experimental for a while, never uploaded to unstable. It is still version 0.3.6 which does not work with compiz 0.2.2 (in Etch) or 0.5 (currently in Lenny). Also, upstream is dead since (due to the compiz/beryl merge) these plugins have moved to compiz-fusion which will be uploaded soon as compiz-fusion-plugins-* (already ITP'ed). Additionaly, compiz-extra currently FTBFS.
