I had gstreamer0.8-misc and gstreamer0.8-vorbis held up from upgrades (I guess it was because I didn't have libshout3?). Anyway, once I installed those 2 packages and ran gst-register-0.8 (there is no gst-register binary), and close/reopened amaroK, it started to work properly. Or at least, it started to work. Time will tell if it is properly. :-)
