Hi, Did anything ever come of this bug? I've just started moving my setup over to full UTF-8 everywhere (en_GB.UTF-8) and it seems I have exactly the same problem. Emacs in an X frame works just fine, but running inside an xterm M-x appears as M-8. Any ideas?
