severity 391203 serious thanks Hi,
During a dist-upgrade... [...] Preparing to replace snmpd 5.1.2-6.2 (using .../snmpd_5.2.3-7_i386.deb) ... Stopping network management services: snmpd snmptrapd. Unpacking replacement snmpd ... [...] Setting up snmpd (5.2.3-7) ... [...] Installing new version of config file /etc/default/snmpd ... Installing new version of config file /etc/snmp/snmptrapd.conf ... Installing new version of config file /etc/init.d/snmpd ... Starting network management services: snmpd snmptrapd. [hangs here, after a while I press Ctrl+C] dpkg: error processing snmpd (--configure): subprocess post-installation script killed by signal (Interrupt) I then opened the snmpd.postinst and saw that it hangs after the exit 0. Trying to avoid debconf hanging it, I added >&2 to the init script calls, to no avail. Something inside the init script left file descriptors open. Adding a db_stop after the init script stuff worked around the problem. Notice that I have the trapd enabled, so it's probable that snmpd is okay, but snmptrapd isn't, but fewer people noticed it because it's not enabled by default. Please fix this. TIA. -- 2.
