Ah, thanks for the pointer. Seems I haven't read the changelog carefully enough. I don't completely agree with the decision though. The notification area icon only shows up, as soon as you actually use one of your SSH or GPG keys. You then get the options in the context menu to show the currently active keys and clear the cache, which is a useful and valuable functionality imho. It makes it clear and obvious, that one of your keys is currently in use, so I'd vote for reverting this change.
