Yeah, the network-manager-openvpn plugin package also ships a
"gui-plugin" for nm-vpn-properties.
Our plans are, to either split up the Gnome specific parts into a
separate package (like network-manger-openvpn-gnome, although that means
we will win the prize for the longest package name ever ;-) ) or simply
exclude the Gnome dependencies from network-manager-openvpn by passing
-X to dh_shlibdeps. The rationale is, that someone using nm-applet
already has the necessary Gnome dependencies installed.
The only downside of the latter approach is, that in case of a library
transition, the gui part of the network-manager-openvpn might break and
it remains unnoticed (by the package management system).
