Package: libeventdb Version: 0.30-4 Severity: serious The latest release of gpe-calendar requires libhandoff and updates to libeventdb and libgpevtype which were released at the same time (during DebConf7).
libhandoff has now been accepted into Debian from the NEW queue so I want to be able to upload the updated gpe-calendar upstream release to close the RC bug #425093. However, the new release of gpe-calendar needs the latest release of libeventdb (and libgpevtype). The updated releases of libeventdb has not shown up in the DEHS because the watch file is looking at the old handhelds.org location, not the current linuxtogo server. I have built the latest versions locally in order to test the updated gpe-calendar and there appear to be no compatibility problems with other gpe applications using these libraries (which, together, form the latest GPE release). Please can the new upstream releases be uploaded to Debian so that I can close my RC bug? (Filing same report for libgpevtype and tagging both as blocking 425093.) Also, debian/control could do with having ${binary:Version} to replace the deprecated ${Source-Version} (this fixes a lintian warning) and v0.90 bumps the SONAME to libeventdb2 so this fix will also have to spend some time in the NEW queue so now might be a good time to add a libeventdb2-dbg debug package (likely to become mandatory in Policy eventually). A simple debian/libeventdb2.install file is needed for this: debian/tmp/usr/lib/libeventdb.so.* I've put a test package in my trivial repository that includes all these fixes: http://linux.codehelp.co.uk/packages/pool/main/libe/libeventdb/libeventdb_0.90-1.dsc As this is a new upstream release, a .diff would not be particularly useful - the .diff.gz is available at: http://linux.codehelp.co.uk/packages/pool/main/libe/libeventdb/ (Note that the lintian warning: shlib-with-executable-stack usr/lib/libeventdb.so.2.0.0 remains - I'll take up this issue with upstream and see if it can be fixed for the next release.) The SONAME bump requires a rebuild of gpe-contacts which is not a problem itself. It does require one change to libdisplaymigration which actually fixes the bug in libdisplaymigration (unable to install) - Package: libdisplaymigration0-dev Section: libdevel Priority: optional Architecture: any Depends: libdisplaymigration0 (= ${binary:Version}) instead of Depends: libdisplaymigration0 (= ${source:Version}) This makes libdisplaymigration0 binNMU safe. As ever, I'm happy to be co-maintainer for any or all of these packages - there are frequently times when various GPE packages have to be updated and uploaded together and sharing the maintenance would make a lot of sense. My test packages have been built with this co-maintenance in place (just to shut up lintian) so if you use these packages, feel free to remove the Uploaders: field if you prefer not to take up this offer.
