I don't think the shell has anything to do with it..
switched some x-terminals in almost all locale variants (rxvt/ xterm et all) -> Unreproduceable. So my idea is: Could it be a wrong ncurses behaviour?
Uhm, I found another person who could reproduce this on Debian. Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly.. You have to write something on the line, and then delete characters from the beginning. When you do that, the characters at the end get changed. -- Martín Ferrari
