I still experience this problem with -
free-java-sdk 1.0-1 tomcat4 4.1.31-2

I can run tomcat4 with JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/sablevm, but not JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/fjsdk & sablevm alternatives.
Unfortunately, I can't say which symlinks /usr/lib/fjsdk is missing : (
