Martin -- I accidentally overlooked bug 398613 that you reported against libtiff-tools back in November, 2006, and I had fallen out of the habit of regularly checking all my packages as my life got much busier. In any case, I'm catching up on all the bugs I'd overlooked. Unfortunately, in this bug report, you included a link to a tiff file, but that link is no longer valid. I tried to reproduce the bug with a few of my own tiff files and was not able to do so. Do you have any more information about the problem or can you recreate the tiff file?
tiff2pdf is a very buggy piece of software. There have been lots of bugs reported on it. To recreate the bug, I just tried creating an image that was larger than the paper size and then using the command you specified, but in that case, I got a valid PDF file. Anyway, if you can shed any more light on the problem or update the link to the tiff file, I'll follow through with upstream and actually take care of this bug properly.
