This doesn't necessarily indicate a problem in any of the patches
supplied so far, but I thought I should record this for posterity in
case it turns out to be a direct consequence of applying this patch
and not just a quirk of GNOME/Metacity.

After having played with this for a while and switched resolutions as I
moved my vnc session from one machine to another, I've noticed that while
the desktop geometry changes, GNOME/Metacity's idea of the center of the
window apparently does not always follow those changes. Maximized
applications remain centered around the initial geometry's center: the
upper left corner of the desktop is not filled by the window, and the
lower left corner of the maximized window is not visible because it
extends beyond the lower left corner of the desktop. I have not yet
tried non-GNOME or some other WM than Metacity, but logically that would
be the next thing to try. I have also not tried the same resolution
change with the same applications on a regular (non-VNC) desktop. If I
can narrow it down, I will file a separate bug against the appropriate
package.
