I hit the bug as well.  I (or someone else) will have to try to trace it
since I don't think the original developer is still working on jumpnbump.

I might be confused, but I've never seen any AI in jumpnbump.  As far as I
know, it's always been a multi-player game with Standalone mode meaning that
all players are using the same keyboard.
