MAC-addresses contain vendor-specific parts, the first three bytes. VMware uses the MAC ranges 00:0c:29:xx:xx:xx 00:50:56:xx:xx:xx for its NICs. The three other bytes depend on the server name and file system location (hashing). Ciao Kai
