I was having similar symptoms, and Michel's patch at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9816 fixed it.
I didn't have nearly as many warnings/errors in my xorg logs a Felix, though (I only had the "Mode pool is empty" warning). Could he be having kernel problems as well?
